Life Works

I'm part of an awesome online community. I've known these women for over 5 years and though we don't get to hang out often in person they contribute greatly to my growth as a person. At the beginning of the summer one friend shared an exercise suggested by her business coach that I've found a great way to recenter. He asked her to make a list of commonalities in days she considered good, a "Life Works" list. Here is the list I came up with.

1. Wake up by 6 am
2. No Weekday Screen Time @ Home
3. Prep Food on the Weekend
4. Listen to Upbeat Music
5. Take the Kids to the Pool or Playground
6. Have Dinner at a Table
7. Require a Bath and Quick Pickup before Bed
8. Prepare Clothes for the Next Day
9. Connect with Ben
10. Go to bed by 10 pm

When I manage to make those things happen I go to bed satisfied no matter what stress the day brought and what is looming tomorrow. I made that list at the end of last school year and after one of those "woke up late, didn't get to shower, missed the bus and got to work late" sorta mornings revisiting this list and knowing that I have a plan for avoiding that chaos tomorrow is comforting. When does your life work?
