The kids are back at school and I have a little over a week to prepare before I start working. Then gone are the days of cleaning house and running errands without them by my side. So I am preparing. Here's what I'm up to:
Decluttering - I try to do it each year before the holidays, but this time I'm going even further. We are paring down to basics rather than just shedding unused excess. It's freeing!
Meal Planning - My plan is to do a bulk cooking day each weekend, probably during the son's nap and with the assistance of the daughter. Things will be predictable and basic during the week. Leftovers will be transformed into other meals. My slowcooker will earn it's keep.
Chore Strategizing - I am not the best housekeeper. I'd much rather let the dust be and cuddle with my kids while I can. But our stress level tends to increase as the mess does. A plan of working the chores into our evening routine is shaping up. It involves silly games and working together and it all sounds really fun in my head.
So that's what I'll be sharing here for now: my daily attempts to keep being the mom I want to be. I'm blooming where I'm planted.
